Trends in Graphs

I was given a list of the 20 first elements in the periodic table, each with the atomic number, Ionization energy, and the Atomic radius. I was to create two different graphs; Ionization energy vs. Atomic number and Atomic radius vs. Atomic number. Then, I had to interpret the graph and point out the trend or trends in both graphs. Below that I had to write a paragraph explaining the trends and define Ionization energy and atomic radius. (Attachment below)

Skills

Chemistry skills
ATOMIC NUMBER
Explain what it is

How is the periodic table arranged

Distinguish between a group and a period.

ELECTRON CONFIGURATIONS & PERIODICITY

Notice the pattern in e- configuration  for each category

PERIODIC TRENDS IN ATOMIC SIZE

How is atomic  radius calculated?

Interpret the group trends.

Interpret the  periodic trends.

PERIODIC TRENDS IN IONIZATION ENERGY

Define  iionization energy.

Interpret the group trends

Explain the  variation in ionization energies.

COMPARISONS OF TRENDS

Graph  the specific trends to show patterns.

Compare/contrast the trends and  note relations

Justification

I chose this project because it includes the skills above. Upon completion I have acquired knowledge about several things, such as knowing the definition of ionization energy and the relation to an elements atomic number. Also, in this project I noted relations in the graphs that I made in Excel, some of the relations were periodic and some of them were group trends.
